The Characters
I never knew why people had profiles pages. I mean, if you've played the game, you know who everyone is already. If you haven't, you wouldn't be looking at a Final Fantasy 8 website anyways. I totally don't get it. But since every other site has one, I'd feel left out if I didn't, so this is my profiles page. Here goes:

Squall
This, of course, is Squall. He's 17, and his Birthday is August 23rd (making him a Virgo). At 5'8", he's the protagonist of the story, and very much a reluctant hero. It's amazing how he turns from such a meanie ("Go talk to a wall!") into such a big sweety, don't you think? Oh, and half his vocabulary is 'Whatever.' ^_~ |
Rinoa
Can you guess who this is? If the heading and the picture aren't enough to tell you that this is Rinoa, then I feel very sorry for you. Because this IS Rinoa. She's 17, about 5' 3", and her birthday is on March 3rd. She is the leader of the Timber Owls resistance group against- guess who?- her father and Vinzer Deling, the President. She's brave, outgoing, idealistic, and not afraid to speak her mind. Although I find that many FF8 fans hate her with a passion; I have yet to find out why.

Zell
This is Zell Dincht! A spunky 5'5 17-year old boy with a passion for hot dogs, he can whoop almost anything with his oh-so-awesome looking martial arts moves. His Birthday is March 3rd, and he's a Momma's Boy! Really! Just go to his home in Balamb and talk to his Mom. He's so sweet to her, it's adorable! *sigh* If I followed Zell home, do you think he'd keep me? |
Selphie
Selphie is a very active member in the Garden Festival Committee, not surprisingly because of her enthusiasm for everything. She uses her nunchakus to fight, and her birthday is on July 16th. Only standing about 5'1, she is the shortest of the group. But that doesn't discourage her in the least! Just wait until you get to the Galbadian missle base, you'll see what I mean!

Irvine
If I had to describe Irvine in one word, it would be Cowboy. I can just hear a southern accent when I see this 6'0 sniper 'talking' on the screen. He's supposed to get nervous a lot according to the booklet which came with the game, but I haven't seen any examples of it. The only time he refused to perform was when he had to shoot the sorceress Edea- his own Matron! Were I him, I wouldn't have wanted to do it either. And he's the youngest! Out of all the 17-year olds, he has the latest Birthday; November 24th. Despite that, he seems to know the most when it comes to women...or at least he thinks he does. ^_~ |
Quistis
Quistis is a very impressive person. A SeeD at only 13 years old, Quistis achieved the position of instructor at 18! Talk about child prodigies! Her birthday is October 4th, meaning she's a Libra (like me! Not that you care). She stands 5'7 and uses a whip for a weapon- very cool! She doesn't deal well with stress, and can get very short-tempered at times, like when she yelled at Rinoa for suggesting they get Edea to put on Odine's Bangle.

Seifer
Seifer is very confident, and he has a right to be. The only gunblade specialist at Balamb besides Squall, Seifer is also the head of the Disciplinary Committee along with his posse of Fuijin and Raijin, though I doubt it's to keep order in the school. Seifer has a desperate craving for power which leads him into big trouble later in the game. I also think that it's funny how his rebellious nature has caused him to fail the SeeD Exam several times... ^_^ |
Laguna
Laguna is arguably Squall's father. Why arguably? Because the game does not openly tell you that Laguna is Squall's father, yet it is pretty obvious. Why else would Ellone choose Squall to send back in time to change Laguna's past? Why else would Kiros and Ward tell Squall on the Ragnorak that it was a good thing he looked nothing like his father? Think about it; after marrying Raine and unknowingly impregnanting her, Laguna left for Esthar on a mission. Laguna couldn't go back because of presidential duties. Raine dies of childbirth problems, and so Squall is sent to the orphanage. See? It all fits together! And the lyrics to 'Eyes on Me' were about Laguna! That must be pretty cool, having a song made with you in mind. It's funny how it happened though; Laguna's leg cramps are hilarious!

Ellone
Remember that adorable little girl who called Laguna 'Uncle Laguna'? That's the same Ellone! She was that old in the time she sent you to, but in reality she's older. And what do I mean by 'time she sent you to'? That's right, Ellone has powers to view- not edit, mind you, just view- the past. She tried to change it, but was unsuccessful. She decided, though, that "viewing the past can change the present," which I thought was pretty wise of her. Ellone seemed like a really nice person; I just wish she had been a little bit more included in the game. We didn't really get to know her that well. |

Edea
Not much is known about Edea; she is a sorceress who inherited Ultimeicia's powers from the future and is occasionally possessed by that same sorceress. She is also the Matron of the SeeDs who went to her orphanage at a young age. Later on, she married Headmaster Cid (not yet a Headmaster at that time) and started SeeD (he then became a headmaster!). When you're sent to try and assassinate her though, it's absolutely hilarious when she's talking to the people saying all these nasty things, and they keep cheering for her, lol! ^_^
